The Qatar Shell Summer Internship is a paid summer experience for university students who want to understand what working at Shell is really like – our culture, our people, and the types of challenges we work on every day.

This internship is designed as an exploration and learning experience. It gives you the opportunity to spend time in a real Shell environment, observe how teams work together, and build confidence before making future career decisions.

About the Qatar Shell Internship Experience

This summer internship is designed to give you a first, realistic look into professional life at Qatar Shell.

• Duration: 6–8 weeks
• Timing: Summer (June – August)
• Location: Ras Laffan & Doha
• Type: Paid summer internship
• Applications open: March 2026

Is this internship for you?

This internship is designed for Qatari Engineering students who are:

• Curious about the energy industry
• Early in their career journey
• Looking for practical exposure alongside their university studies

You might still be deciding what kind of engineer you want to be – or whether the energy industry is right for you. This programme is intended to help you explore those questions in a supportive way.

You can apply if you:

• Are a Qatari National
• Are enrolled in Year 2, 3 or 4 of a university degree
• Are studying Engineering (for example: Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial & Systems)
• Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (or equivalent)

What you will experience

During the 6–8-week programme, you will join a Qatar Shell team and experience day‑to‑day working life in a structured and supportive environment.

During the internship, you will:

• Spend time shadowing professionals across specific areas across engineering, technology, or maintenance.
• Work on one clearly scoped micro‑project, linked to real business activity
• Observe how teams collaborate, communicate and make decisions
• Develop confidence in a professional workplace You will be supported by:
• A business supervisor
• A buddy for day‑to‑day questions
• Regular check‑ins to help you reflect on what you are learning

What you might work on

Each intern is assigned one micro‑project that reflects the work of their team and helps bring their learning together.

Examples include:

• Observing and mapping a technical or operational process
• Supporting a workflow review and identifying improvement ideas
• Creating an observation log and sharing recommendations

You will also take part in:

• Safety and business inductions
• Informal learning sessions that explain how interviews and case studies work at Shell, to build awareness and confidence

At the end of the internship, interns share their learning and receive a certificate of completion.
