At QSRTC, we focus on the innovation and development of cutting-edge technologies that support Shell's technology and energy transition objectives, sustainability objectives, and the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our operations.

Our R&D programme is aligned with Shell’s global technology strategy and contributes directly to Qatar National Vision 2030 by supporting Qatar's long-term development priorities, environmental management and technology development, and the advancement of a knowledge-based economy. This is achieved through collaboration with Shell's global technology networks, as well as leading academic and research institutions in Qatar and internationally. Through these partnerships, QSRTC supports knowledge transfer, local capability development, and human capital growth, reinforcing Shell’s long-term commitment to Qatar's national development priorities.

Welcome to QSRTC

Shell is proud that QSRTC is a founding member and anchor tenant of Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), an innovation hub for technology-based companies from around the world.

Through academic partnerships and hands-on research programmes, we enable knowledge transfer, build local capabilities, provide R&D training and innovation opportunities for Qatari nationals, contributing to Qatar’s journey towards a knowledge-based economy.

At QSRTC, research and innovation are delivered through long-term partnerships within Qatar’s innovation ecosystem and with industry partners.

University collaboration

Through the Shell Research Alliance, we collaborate with Qatari and international universities and research institutions, aligning our research priorities with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Qatar National Research Strategy.

Operational excellence

Our work focuses on developing and implementing technologies that address Qatar-specific needs, support economic diversification, and enhance the operational excellence of our operating assets.

QSRTC plays an active role in strengthening Qatar's research, development and innovation ecosystem by combining global reach with strong local engagement. A core element of this role is bringing Shell’s global innovation programmes, platforms and challenges to Qatar, creating opportunities for local researchers, startups and partners to engage with international technology networks and accelerate innovation.

Shell GTL Technology

Shell’s gas-to-liquids (GTL) technology turns natural gas into high-quality liquid fuels, base oils, and other liquid products traditionally made from crude oil. Our GTL expertise is founded on more than 45 years of research, development and commercial expertise.
