The company hosted a cadre of Qatari executive leaders selected for QLC's Executive Leaders Programme.

Doha, 18 September 2014: As part of Shell’s ongoing support for leadership and human development in Qatar, the company hosted a cadre of Qatari executive leaders selected for Qatar Leadership Centre’s (QLC) Executive Leaders Programme; the visit took place at the Qatar Shell Research and Technology Center earlier this week. The QLC participants were introduced to Qatar Shell’s assets, businesses and wider contribution to Qatar’s society, as well as engaging in discussions around Safety Leadership, and People Development.
Qatar Leadership Centre is a national platform for leadership excellence, in support of the development goals of the State of Qatar. Their programme includes customized executive leadership development, taught by respected global partners. Participants are also given the opportunity to learn first-hand from senior decision-makers at Qatar’s top governmental and business organizations about the challenges and best practices of their operations and business. Participants of the programme come from various public and private sectors, including QatarEnergy, QatarGas, Ooredoo, Qatar Foundation, Qatar National Bank, and more.
QLC offers three specialized leadership programmes; one for Qatari professionals between the ages of 25 and 35; an executive leaders programme aimed at Qataris between the ages of 36 and 46; and a programme for Qatari government professionals, the latest QLC leadership offering. Currently, three of Shell’s Qatari staff are enrolled in QLC’s programmes.
"The Qatar Leadership Centre, led by His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdulla Bin Ali Al Thani, plays a vital role in equipping the current and future leaders of Qatar’s key organisations with the experience, broad insights and leadership skills to deliver essential projects and outcomes in support of the vision of His Highness the Emir as stated in the Qatar National Vision 2030. It was a pleasure to host the senior class of 2014 and be challenged by their perceptive questions."
Wael Sawan, Managing Director and Chairman of Qatar Shell companies
"It was a great opportunity to learn more about what Shell is doing in, and for, Qatar, and especially about the company’s model of leadership including in the critical domain of safety."
Eng. Abdulla Mubarak Al-Hajri of Kahraama, a participant in the programme.
“I hope that more Qatari participants will be able to benefit from such programmes in the future,” noted QLC participant Hassan Al-Emadi of Sidra Medical and Research Centre, who expressed appreciation for “the role of a leading private company like Qatar Shell in sharing leadership lessons.”
Earlier this year, QLC and Qatar Shell partnered to co-host a special interactive forum for regional participants of the Middle East Leadership Academy (MELA), a multinational initiative to nurture the aspirations of a new generation of leaders in the Arab world and help them to develop, network and accelerate their careers.
