The initiative uses a mix of experiential and computer-based education software to help change driving and road safety behaviours and attitudes to support the reduction of fatal road accidents and serious injuries caused by reckless driving.\u003Cbr\u003E\r\n\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E‘Darb Al Salama’ comprises interactive activities that test users’ hazard anticipation skills, defensive driving techniques, and awareness of speed. It also covers the topics of pedestrian safety, seatbelts and child seats. It is designed to help young drivers identify and respond to potentially unsafe traffic situations to ultimately improve their road safety habits.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E‘Rakkiz Tislam’ has been designed and tailored to Qatar’s traffic environment by driver education software company ‘a2om’, and includes real traffic incidences filmed on Qatar’s roads.\u003Cbr\u003E\r\n\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003ETo date, more than 12,000 students, and their parents, from youth centres and schools across Qatar have participated in the ‘Darb Al Salama’ initiative. The ‘Darb Al Salama’ initiative was also showcased for the first time at the 31st GCC Traffic Week in Doha this year, with more than 9,000 visitors participated in the programme’s activities.\u003Cbr\u003E\r\n\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe ‘Darb Al Salama’ outreach campaign is brought to Qatar by RLIC- COP, which is headed by QatarEnergy, and in partnership with RasGas, Dolphin Energy Limited, Pearl GTL (the world’s largest gas to liquids plant delivered by QatarEnergy and Qatar Shell), Oryx GTL, Qatargas, and AlKhaleej Gas. RLIC-COP supports many long-term sustainable initiatives in the areas of education, culture, health, environment, security and safety.
