The strategic partnership is progressing well.  Shell and QatarEnergy International have been exploring global business opportunities in key strategic energy markets.  One example of such successful joint collaboration is the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) in June 2008 to commence joint preliminary studies to assess the viability of building with a world-scale, integrated refinery and petrochemical manufacturing complex in China.

In July 2014, QatarEnergy and Shell signed a memorandum of co-operation in support of their new international upstream partnership in Brazil. The agreement follows QP’s $1bn purchase in April 2014 of a 23% stake in a major oil production asset, offshore Brazil operated by Shell known as BC-10 or Parque das Conchas.
