Qatar set to be a new Heartland for Qatar Shell
Doha, 23rd November 2009. Royal Dutch Shell plc (Shell) reconfirmed good progress of the Pearl GTL and the Qatargas 4 projects for a group of its shareholders and investment analysts. Shell is partnering in both Pearl GTL and Qatargas 4 with Qatar Petroleum.
Global chief Executives of contractor companies meet at Pearl GTL
The global Chief Executive Officers and Senior Executives of the major contractor companies working on the Pearl Gas to Liquids project have met at the project construction site to review progress and renew their commitment to safe work. In addition, discussions were held to agree how to work together to ensure the Pearl GTL project finishes strongly. Some 62 global Chief Executive Officers and Senior Executives representing 13 companies attended the summit. This was the 5th CEO summit held on the Pearl GTL project.

Shell files first patent from Qatar science & technology park.
Shell has filed its first patent application for an invention at the Qatar Science & Technology Park. The invention for which the patent application has been filed is a shutdown procedure for a fixed-bed Fischer Tropsch reactor preventing catalyst activity loss. The Fischer Tropsch chemical reaction is part of the gas to liquids (GTL) process.

The applied research laboratory is in the Qatar Shell Research & Technology Centre, the Shell research and learning facility at the science park.
