Sponsorship Programme

What is it and why we have it?

In Qatar Shell, we are committed to building the Oil and Gas industry in Qatar. Qatar Shell vision is to promote the sustainable development and unleash the talents of Qatari people. We are proud to be part of history of this country and being able to contribute in many ways to Qatar aspiration to build the knowledge-based society.

We are looking for young talented high school students, who we like to sponsor to study at a University of their choice.

Qatar Shell will fund for a sponsored student the following:

• Tuition
• Study fees
• Study materials
• Pay a monthly allowance

We also want to recognize special study achievements and for outstanding students there will be further incentives and benefits in addition to the items above.

How long the sponsorship lasts and what happens after?

The sponsorship is 4 full academic years – for student to complete a Bachelor degree, or other period as agreed between a student and Qatar Shell.
During the sponsorship period, a student will be offered at least 2 summer internships with Qatar Shell.
Upon the graduation from University, Qatar Shell will offer the employment to the sponsored student. The sponsored student is expected to build their long-term career in Qatar Shell and to be in Qatar Shell employment for at least the same period as his/ her sponsorship lasted.

How do we select candidates for the Sponsorship Programme?

Qatar Shell is looking to invest in the education and development of young Qataris who consider studying for technical disciplines that could be applied in the Oil and Gas industry, few examples of the disciplines are:

• Engineering:  Chemical, Electrical, Electronic, Environmental, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials, Mechanical;
• Earth Sciences: areas of Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Seismology and Paleontology;
• Sciences: areas of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

Selection Criteria:

A student shall meet the following selection criteria:

• His/ her studies are in one of the disciplines that Qatar Shell is looking to sponsor (few examples are in the list above)
• S/he shall produce an unconditional letter from the University confirming the acceptance to the Study Programme
• S/he is willing build long-term career with Qatar Shell upon completion of their studies
• While studying at University and sponsored by Qatar Shell, s/he will obtain the marks at 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA in academic year
